This is my favorite kind of day. It's raining outside and I can hear the gentle splatter of the drops on my windows from where I sit at my grandmothers antique table. My hands still bear the fragrant linger of dishwashing soap, what a homey, grounding perfume! I finished the dishes after making chocolate covered pretzels and brewing some tea. Now, I sit surrounded by Christmas stockings that I haven’t stored away yet, hearing a lovely symphony of raindrops, Connors video game in the basement, and faint strains of the Christmas cd playing in my bedroom that I really don’t want to put away yet!
I am loving the lazy day that began early, awake and alone. I worked on my manuscript and then rewarded myself by listening to the book my mother in law gave me for my birthday called Suzanne’s Diary for Nicholas. Oh, what a read! It had twists and turns that I didn’t expect and interesting metaphors that held my curiosity. The reader/actress who read the book on audio was fabulous also.
Now, I am heading out to the deck to feel the cool mist of the rain and drink the tea and nibble on the pretzels. Ah, what a lovely day!
