I also celebrated my sorta-kinda-half birthday this month! My birthday is December 19th, and several years ago I decided to no longer celebrate it on that day. You can read here: Birthday Change Announcement. But, with my shaky math skills, I just assumed that July 19th was six months earlier. I know, I know. I am definitely a writer, not a mathematician. So, Phil planned the best surprise party for my 46.583 birthday! He gathered a group of my friends from Springfield to meet at Ocean Zen where we had a blast. When I got home, he gave me my gift. Drum roll please....a George Foreman Grill! Yes, I am the last person on planet Earth to get one. I love it. (And, I bet George Foreman doesn't eat sushi, either!)
I received a subscription to Audible.com for my birthday and one of the first books I got was The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by my favorite dead author. It is the third book in the Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. This story features Lucy, Edmund and their odious cousin, Eustace Scrubb, being drawn into Narnia through a picture of a boat hanging in Eustace's' home. It is a children's fantasy, but it is so packed with lovely imagery and captivating characters that sometimes I forget it's written for kids! By the way, if you are a parent or movie buff, you may want to give this book a taste test now because the movie is to be released on December 10th this year by Walden Media.
So, give these things a taste test:
1. A tube ride on Super Mabel
2. Phantom of the Opera
4. George Foreman Grill
5. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
