Have you ever been to Washington, D.C.? It's one of my favorite places in the entire world...especially when shared with family and friends. After speaking at a marvelous event in Bristow, Virginia called "Think Pink," Angela and I spent a day with my brother David and my wonderful sis-in-law Carrie who live there. We visited the monuments and took a tour of Ford's Theatre and strolled the National Portrait Gallery. My soul was filled. We also ate at the most fabulous restaurant. You just must visit when you go to D.C. It is ...Jaleo! It features an impressive assortment of tapas--the traditional small dishes of Spain. I loved the fried dates wrapped in bacon, the endives with goat cheese, oranges and almonds; escalivada catalana (roasted red peppers, eggplant and sweet onions with sherry dressing) and Coliflor salteada con aceitunas y dátiles which is...sautéed cauliflower with dates. And olives! Oh girl, I could go on and on and on!
Then, the next day, we were in Charlotte, N.C. with the great people of Extraordinary Women. I filmed a conversation with Julie Clinton and got to spend time with one of my heroes...Thelma Wells! I'll be a guest on their ministry tour this year at several cities, so check out my calendar. Maybe you can come!
Oh, my black eye!
Fortunately, or unfortunately (I'm not sure which), I discovered a great makeup product from my friend Renee Swope the morning before I filmed in Charlotte. I banged my eye on the hotel bathroom shelf and it swelled and turned a lovely shade of purplish blue with a tint of black. Yipes! That's not easy to conceal and I was filming in 2 hours! But Renee came to my rescue with Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Makeup! It's a micro-correcting foundation made with Goji berry and collagen. The product touts that it instantly erases lines and creases. Perhaps so. All I know is it reduced my anxiety and obscured my bruiser!
I'm thankful for a friend who carries practically everything she owns in her purse! We all need friends like Renee for when we get a black eye or have a headache or need to remove a splinter or change a tire or mow the lawn or hem our pants or need to wash the gray out of our hair! Seriously, if I needed it, I think it was in Renee's purse that morning! Anyway, it worked so well that I shot a quick video to show you! Give it a taste test--but you don't need to blacken your eye to test its merits...I already did that for you! Ha!

One of the highlights of February was seeing Beauty and the Beast with Phil for Valentine's Day. It was a stunning show with highly talented singers. The script, score, execution, timing, presentation...everything was perfect! Check it out, you will love it!
February ended with Fresh Grounded Faith Brunswick. Michael O'Brien and Stormie Omartian were with me. I love those guys! Seven women came to faith in Christ. I am pumped and grateful!
So, give these things a taste test:
1. A visit to Washington, D.C.
2. Jaleo
3. Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Makeup
4. Disney's Beauty and the Beast
