This month, I took Java on the road! Six of us piled into our minivan and hit the road for the St. Louis Women of Faith. We shoved our luggage and chocolate into the van and drove in pouring rain with only one stop...and you guessed where...Starbucks! Even my non-coffee drinking friend, Kellie, got a "Java Chip!"
Entertainment
on the road was provided by Julie as she told her "hair cutting" story
while we headed east. Note that I didn't say where the hair was that
she cut...you must watch the video to see why we needed to stop to go to the restroom and get Starbucks after laughing so hard at her story!
When
we arrived in St. Louis, we met up with my favorite Eastland School
co-ed. You will have to guess who she is...here are some hints: She
was a Mouseketeer and the ultimate eighties diva, she's kissed George
Clooney, she's authored more than ten books, and she's a woman of grace
and I love her! Click here
to find out. During lunch, we all talked about books we are reading,
have read, and are considering. The list included, but was not limited
to: The Shack, The Alchemist, and The Portrait of a Lady...which do you think I recommend the most?!
After lunch, we checked out the end of the Women of Faith pre-conference. We laughed at--I mean with--Anita Renfroe, were inspired and amazed by Patsy Clairmont, and listened to and learned from Jan Silvious.
After checking into our hotel in Union Station, we enjoyed the weekend in the Scottrade Center. The arena was filled with the voices of more than ten thousand women singing and laughing. Marilyn Meberg counseled women that God will never abandon them, Sheila Walsh encouraged us to pray, Sandi Patty
shared about losing the 'layers,' and Patsy reminded us that God always
sees us. The weekend was a double shot, extra hot, vinte brimming with
FUN!
When I arrived home, I put my new CD Lisa gave me into my office CD player as I began to write this. Shannon Wexelberg's music filled my office and my heart. Her Faithful God CD is inviting, warm, deep and communicative. I really enjoyed her style and substance.
So give these things a taste test:
1. A Java Chip from Starbucks
2. Hyatt Regency at Union Station
3. Women of Faith conference in a city near you
4. Shannon Wexelberg CD's
Do NOT give these things a taste test:
1. Julie giving you a free haircut.
2. Julie near you with scissors.
3. Julie trimming your dog to save money at the groomers.
4. Julie trimming tags off your clothes.
5. Julie trimming your hedges.
6. Julie trimming anything you deem precious!
